Incumbent President Faustin-Archange Touadéra officially launched his re-election campaign on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Omnisports Stadium in Bangui, addressing a supportive crowd of thousands. After returning from Sibut, where he initially kicked off his bid for a second term, he was met with an enthusiastic reception. His campaign team is counting on significant voter turnout to secure a win in the first round.
Igor Tola Kogadou, a candidate for the National Assembly from the ruling United Hearts Movement (MCU), highlighted the impressive mobilization of supporters. “I witnessed the population coming together for this election, rallying behind the head of state, Professor Faustin-Archange Touadéra, candidate number one, the champion of the United Hearts Movement,” he stated.
Touadéra is positioning himself as a stabilizing force, with supporters pointing to his track record on peace and the prospect of enduring stability as key reasons to maintain their confidence in him over his opponents. “The joy and enthusiasm here show that the population understands the need for peace. The Central African people are united in their desire for peace with President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, which is why we joyfully begin this presidential, legislative, regional, and municipal campaign,” remarked Josiane Nina Bemakassui, former Minister of Humanitarian Action.
In contrast, opposition candidate Anicet-Georges Dologuélé has unveiled a platform centered on 25 social pillars, emphasizing the need for a strong state and economic revival. “Without a robust state, there can be no development, stability, or future. Our third pillar focuses on economic recovery and creating opportunities for all. We envision a country that encourages initiative and rewards hard work,” Dologuélé explained. His campaign also welcomes the support of Serge Bokassa, a former minister who previously aligned with Touadéra, marking a significant defection from the ruling party.
As the two-week campaign period unfolds, the atmosphere remains tense, according to the United Nations, with growing concerns over security, political polarization, and the possibility of violence. Nonetheless, all major candidates, including President Touadéra, have urged for a peaceful and orderly campaign, encouraging citizens to express their electoral choices through the ballot box rather than through street actions.
